spring
Today was amazing. I got home and it was warm with hours of sun light be for dusk. So I walked down to the Severn Run and back. Then shouldered the Axe and finished chopping up the fire wood I got from Pine trail. It was wet green Popular and took a lot of work to cut trough. My composting bin was in sore need of emptying, so that was next. This was because of the composers in the back yard was frozen solid for the last week or so. I have not accomplished that much after work for a long time. In recognition of the start of spring with in this month I looked up the Smithsonian Kite Festival. I had no idea it was a kite building / flying compilation. I would have been happy with the change / excuse to fly my kite on the National mall. Now I thinking I might have to come up with a design. Time Lapse While I was in New York I set up my SLR camera to take an shot every 10 minutes. I returned to find that the set up ran for about 6 days before filling its CF Card. I edited out most of the pure black night photos and put it together in a video. I want to try and catch a freeze or a snow fall. So I will do a few more series. Next I was thinking about do a series on the germinating and growth of a plant or possibly a star filled night sky. You know when I figure a way to hooking my camera up to a telescope. NYC update I am working hard to finish up early so maybe I could do some site seeing. The only place I was really jazzed about seeing http://www.robotvillage.com/ has closed it's store front in Manhattan. The website is still active, but man I was hoping for some hands on evaluation. Friday I want to go see Battery park and the Trade Center site. Anyone have any other suggestions for other places to see in NYC. |

Time Laps Photo It took me a few tries, but now I know how to set up my SLR Camera for time laps photography. The shortest time interval I can set my camera for is 1 minute. I think the longest is 99 hours in 1 minute increments. I took a series of photos looking out my kitchen window from Sunday afternoon to Monday morning in 1 minute increments until my CF card ran out of space. The individual photos are not vary interesting on their own. They are of the back yard and show the sky and and far off trees in the back ground. The Shed my truck and the wood pile are in the mid ground. The lawn runs from the mid to the for ground. I will throw a high light reel up here after some editing. The main thing this project allowed me to see was the effect wind has on everything. Current Mood: chipper |

Computer trouble @ work
At work today a common question rang out. Do you smell something burning? As I work in an electronic repair lab, some times what we are testing will burnout a component. With my sense of smell I have a real handicap hunting down the source. After ten minutes of searching I notice the screen of my work computer had gone dark and would not revive from the mouse or keyboard. The fans were still running but the Power Button and the peripherals were dead. This computer runs half my test gear. If it dose not work neither do I. So I open the case and could finely see and smell what everyone was talking about. The South Bridge Chip Set had ¼ white hole melted into it and the Power Supply was missing it's 5 volt rail. I don't know with one caused the other, but this one two punch means the computer is toast. Burnt Toast! I spent the next hour or so Frankensteining a replacement computer together. I have never seen this kind of damage before. It is not often that I write off a computer as a lost cause. Chalk one up to Spontaneous Computer Combustion. Current Mood: shocked |

My grandfather was berried two years ago today. I went down to the Crownsville Veterans Cemetery today to pay my respects to my mom's parents. I have done this each December since my grandfather's passing and today it was in deed easier then it had been. It was very cold and windy with clear sky's. It still makes me sad. It's a good kind of sad. It's the “Prick me do I not bleed” reassurence I need from time to time. Current Mood: contemplative |

I re-handled an AXE
The cycle is complete. Last time the Catline's had a wood cutting party. I fractured the handle of their grandfather's Axe. It was still usable but visibility weakened. Since then it has remained sundered next to its future replacement handle in his wood shop. I asked to barrow the Axe in exchange for mending the handle. It took three days of my spare time but it is now whole. Honor has been served. |

Tis the season list The holidays are upon us and as usual I am introspective about what to get people as gifts. The last few years has reinforced my belief that stuff is the enemy. I don't want to get stuff for people just to have it be one more pebble on the penguin pile. Unless someone has made it clear what they seek I am go to give what I want to receive. That's is something combustible consumable or intangible. Chief among these things are good cheer.(well wishing and hanging out) The next is something that after it has lived it's time in the sun it is no more.(food, digital art, gift cards and supplies) Don't get me wrong Surprising someone with something awesome and unexpected is truly grate. But getting that right is more of the exception then than the rule. Normally when I come across something like that I don't wait for the holidays to act. What follows is a list of things I have been looking for. I just can't remember I am looking for them when I am out and about. Any thing on this list would be just fine for Christmas or my Birthday. edit The things I seek do not have to be new and shinny just workable. -Brita water pitcher or faucet filter -6'x8' rug ( very simple or no-pattern cool primary and secondary colors) -Something to hold Plastic Handle Bags -A mid size plastic box with lid or something to hold kitchen food wast between trips to the composter -Wet Erase Pens -Car Air Freshener -Fire lighter (like for a charcoal grill) -Paper egg cartons -Thick Wool socks -I am looking for a book on Ben Francklin about him or his work - food (easy on the teeth tough, My teeth are still soft in my jaw from the invisalign braces. Beef jerky is oh so delish, but oh so hard on the teeth.) -Salt and pepper Shakers -Neverwinter Nights 2"Mask of the Betrayer" expansion pack -Fallout for the PC -Left 4 Dead for PC
